Classic:

Buckingham is my classical monologue, I am working to improve my acting on said monologue and understanding the process behind keeping my original accent while reading a classical monologue such as this.

Contemporary: 

The Someone Saw Me monologue from the prodigal son is the contemporary monologue I have chosen. It is a long monologue that speaks to me due to its connotations about young people and change

I have also chosen Raise a Little Hell from Bonnie & Clyde The Musical as my contemporary song. 

Reflection:

Embarking on my journey towards a career in acting is both exhilarating and challenging. Selecting the right acting drama schools is a pivotal decision that will shape my education and, ultimately, my career. In this blog post, I'll share how I've carefully chosen the perfect drama schools for me and outline my plan to get there.

Selecting the right acting drama schools is a pivotal decision, as it will shape my future. After extensive research and contemplation, I've identified two schools so far that I wholeheartedly believe are the perfect fit for my aspirations:

Guildhall: My choice of Guildhall School of Music and Acting is rooted in its immersive, hands-on approach to acting education. From research, offers a wide array of programs, which align perfectly with my ambitions. The school's prestigious faculty and its location in the heart of the entertainment industry in london make it an irresistible choice for me.

Hardin: Hardin, nestled in the heart of the  vibrant city of manchester, is another school that has captured my heart due to its rich history and reputation for producing world-class actors and the largest amount of alumni in the uk. Their dedication to classical acting techniques resonates with my desire for a comprehensive education.

These are just two of my set choices so far. I will research and commit more on my choices during my time at college.

I am meticulously preparing my applications, ensuring that my resume, portfolio, and personal statement vividly express my passion and unwavering dedication to acting. Most drama schools mandate auditions, and I'm fully committed to honing my skills through intensive training and seeking guidance from mentors to ensure I perform at my very best

With the diverse curricula, industry connections, and practical experience opportunities offered by Guildhall and Arden, they are the perfect fit for me. With a well-structured plan in place and a heart full of determination, I am wholeheartedly committed to putting in the hard work and dedication required to make my dream of attending these schools a reality. This journey will undoubtedly be filled with challenges, but I'm eager and excited to take the first steps toward pursuing my passion for acting.

Personal Statement:

From the start of my time outside of school, it was hard for me to fully accept what it was I wanted to be. I have always found comfort and passion with theatrics, yet with my first step outside of secondary school and into college, I studied Public Services, with the belief that I couldnt realistically go forward in life using my passion and love for creativity and theatre.

During my time studying, I could always feel something wasnt right, as if I was made for something else. After finishing my course, I took a chance and enrolled into acting at a different college. Ever since making that decision, I have found solace, passion, and purpose under the spotlight and before the camera. Pursuing a career in acting is not just a dream, it's a calling that I have now dedicated my life to answering.

Acting, for me, is not simply a performance, it's a gateway to exploring the depths of human emotion and understanding. It's the art of empathy, where I can step into the shoes of countless characters, each with their unique stories, struggles, and triumphs. It's about embracing vulnerability and portraying the raw, unfiltered truth of the human experience.

Throughout my journey as an actor, I have relentlessly honed my craft. I've immersed myself in acting classes, workshops, and intensive rehearsals for shows such as: The Wizard of Oz, The 2023 Connections Piece, Little Women and other shows that were screen orientated. I constantly seek to expand my range and refine my technique. I've learned to harness the power of my voice, body, and emotions to bring characters to life, captivating audiences and evoking genuine emotions.

After my first performance, it was like a slap in the face. I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life in almost an instant. I felt the stage lights hit my face and saw the audience before me and it was like i'd found what I was looking for. Performing as a character in front of people who were there to see a show, it was the official start of my journey, and I fully intend to continue that journey as my lifes dream and lifes work.

Beyond the technical aspects of acting, I understand the importance of collaboration and teamwork in the world of theater. I thrive in ensemble settings, where the collective creativity of a cast and crew can produce magic on stage. I've experienced firsthand the transformative power of theatre and it has opened my horizons.

My journey has not been without challenges, but I believe that it's through these challenges that I have grown the most as an actor and as an individual. I've learned the value of perseverance, adaptability, and resilience in the face of rejection and criticism. These experiences have only fuelled my determination to pursue acting with unwavering dedication.

Choosing to attend drama school is the next natural step in my journey. It's an opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals, to immerse myself in a community of like-minded artists, and to continue developing my skills to their fullest potential. I am ready to embrace the rigor and discipline that drama school demands, knowing that it will only strengthen my commitment to this craft.

Acting is not just a career choice for me, it's a lifelong passion that defines who I am. I am ready to embark on this journey of growth, exploration, and self-discovery, and I am confident that your esteemed drama school will provide the perfect environment for me to thrive as an actor.
