24/04 - Character Research and Readthroughs | LW - PD
Monday:
In order to really get a feel for the characters and the time period they were in, Kelly has printed off guides to male and female etiquette that were used in the old times when it was used more often! We spent the day going over different rules and guidelines that were expected and contrasted them to todays standards!! They very fun to think and read about! We were set off in different groups where we studied each rule, im excited to incorporate each of them into my audition as Laurie! I think this is going to be my biggest challenge yet!
Tuesday:
Audition day for Laurie!!!! Very excited VERY nervous!! I have some doubts about my ability to memorise my monologue due to not taking the proper time to solidify it so I’m going to use the script alongside it! Good thing the monologue is in a play setting!
The audition went wonderfully!! I had a small blip in the middle due to one of the lines slipping my mind, im dissapointed as I feel I took Kelly and Kane out of the scene slightly! However, after that I went through the full thing, giving my best performance I could and Kelly seemed very impressed! I left the room feeling confident! However, now is the not the time to take a break I will spend the next few days researching the character as well as a few others in case i am not cast for Laurie!
Later on in the day we did a chemistry audition with Laurie and Amy! Me and Charley, already having great chemistry, decided it would be a great idea to go together! I’m very confident about our choices and believe it went well also! It was fun to go through the scripts and am very excited to see it when it is complete!
Wednesday:
Today we practiced more of our etiquette! I’m fact, we were instructed to show our understanding by performing a peice in front of everyone that showed our understanding! Our group decided to go for the classic teacher student performance, me being the teacher and the others being my students! We made the class laugh as well as show our understanding so that’s a win in my book!
It’s strange to see the things you see in old movies actually be the norm of the time! But that only excites me more to learn and adopt these mannerisms and rules into my performance!!
Thursday:
Chemistry auditions today! We were given a list for our Lauries, Amys, Freds and Jos and were instructed to work on our chemistry! I was picked with Latoya and Emi and we did a great job conveying our emotions for each other as characters!! I feel like we all did an amazing job and watching other people perform was an incredible honour, I saw how everyone took the characters in different ways and portrayed them! We performed our chemistry read in front of the class and im incredibly proud of the performance we gave!
