Summer of Shakespear Workshop Audition

Today we had some people come in looking to do an audition for a few shakespearian plays that were going to be performed in the summer! I joined as i am pretty eager to get into the outside world of professional acting.

We started off with some fun warmup games, some that were challenging but fun and made sure we were ready for the rest of the day. I enjoyed playing 'Into the Bucket', really a great team building exercise. After our warmups, we moved into some singing, since one of the shakespear plays is going to have a viking twist on it, (which sounds very exciting by the way) we sang some viking chants such as "My Mother Told Me" and more.

I enjoyed singing, I haven't got a lot of experience with it in production so it was very fun to get back into it and use a skill I havent since peter pan, also the songs themselves were very fun to sing.

Next we moved onto some stage combat, as said previously, I have some good experience with stage combat, but I was happy to learn more! We learned some good warmups that definitely helped us with our aforementioned stage combat. We learned how to fall safely, as well as perform a performance push and sweep. We put them all together and showed a small scene of stage combat! I enjoyed it and it was a very informative experience.

Lastly, we performed our shakespear monologues in private while also creating a scene from a modernised excerpt of a shakespear play. It was fun to work together and come up with our own styles for how to act out the play, it was also fun seeing everyone else's takes on it.

All together, I enjoyed this experience very much, it really was a great learning experience, and I hope I was good enough to recieve a callback for the plays!
