Section 1: Rationale (approx. 100 words)
"Since beginning college for the first time back in my Public Services days, to right now, I have always sought to self improve. From choosing a course I didn’t want to do, to picking the one I’ve wanted to do all my life, it’s been an incredible journey. I’ve learned how to do so much and can’t wait to show what ive learned to the rest of the world.
Coming into acting I was nervous at first, yet for some reason I decided to go for the main role in my first production, I think this was an expression which showed how much I wanted this, even if I was underprepared, I would make myself prepared. With each production I have gained confidence and a new skill to take with me on my journey as an actor.
Section 2: Project concept (approx. 200 words)
The aims and contributions to the project will be to challenge myself with the biggest role I have taken on yet, there are in incredible amount of lines to learn and actions to perform alongside them. I will also be taking on The backstage challenge to add music into the show at specific points.
These combined, and separately are the biggest challenges I have taken on as an actor so far and I can’t wait to pursue and conquer them. To research this role I have explored other pieces of media related to OFOTCCN, that being the film and the book. I have also researched information about the original author and the background of R. P. McMurphy, for example, in some texts it mentions that McMurphy is a war veteran, background of his character that is not shared in the movie version. I plan to incorporate this research into my performance and make a truly captivating character that will draw audience attention.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will evaluate my work by following it alongside blog posts and basing my evaluation on how far I’ve come from my acting debut all the way back in 2022 in The Ghost Light Tours.
I will also reflect on my other roles on my journey and how I have improved and challenged myself each time. I will also reflect on how I will move forward and challenge myself once more after learning what I have from this year.
Project action plan and timetable: This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation over a period of weeks and the activities you will need to carry out in order to successfully complete your project in the agreed time frame. The more time and thought you give to planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be.It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in the realisation of the project. You should also include what you are going to do, how you will do it and by when. Remember to include: time spent sourcing materials and other resources to conduct research, seek feedback from tutors and peers, and identify when you will carry out independent study.
